Paralegal (Raleigh/Durham Area)

As a Paralegal, you will be responsible for providing paralegal services and handling assigned regulatory/legal projects in addition to general administrative functions as needed.

You will act as a liaison between in-house attorneys, outside counsel, organizations and in-house employees. You will compile data from legal digests, encyclopedias and practice manuals; and assemble, proof and edit drafts of contracts, leases, licenses and insurance policies. You will also prepare and file legal documents, conduct research on projects, review and ensure the firm’s compliance with regulations, and assist in internal document reviews. This position requires a paralegal certification, relevant office experience and a knowledge of office automation equipment and software.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Paralegal Certification, NC Certified Paralegal preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years paralegal experience.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate and partner effectively as a member of the legal team; ability to work directly with all levels of staff, court representatives, law enforcement representatives and witnesses to gain the confidence of senior management.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to follow directions and clear understanding and adherence to ethical principles, company values, code of conduct and policies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to most effectively contacting clients, coordinating case schedules with courts, law enforcement officials, witnesses and defense attorneys and draft correspondence and legal document for attorneys.
  • Firm understanding of litigation legal process; In depth knowledge of legal terminology and principles.
  • The ability to analyze and effectively comment on legal documents for accuracy and completeness. Compile and analyze case documents for hearings & trials and prepare court calendars.
  • Intermediate to advanced skill level in Microsoft Office products: Word, Outlook, Excel & Power Point; Ability to type 50+ wpm. Ability to learn, update and edit existing proprietary applications and quickly learn and use various computer systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details to analyze and problem solve; willingness to take initiative and “think outside the box”.
  • Assist attorneys with proofreading, cite checking, locating files and documents with frequent interruptions; manage deadlines and adapt to changes in workflow.
  • Strong attention to detail and high concern for data accuracy.
  • Assertive in tackling new challenges; acts decisively with good business judgment; failure to make decisions will result in critical delay(s) in schedules and/or unit operations, and may jeopardize overall business activities.

Machine Mechanic

AVANT is recruiting for several full-time openings with a manufacturer in Oxford, NC. Excellent pay and benefits available! Positions open on all 3 shifts.

Basic Function:
Assembles, operates, adjusts, troubleshoots, services and maintains all filling and assembly equipment in the company facilities with little or no direction from immediate Manager, Supervisor, or Group Leader.

Major Duties:
· Assists in coaching and training of mechanics and process facilitators.
· Plans, initiates and completes job assignments in a prompt and timely manner.
· Ability to operate all shop equipment except the CNC.
· Trained and certified to make adjustments/repairs in electrical panels as defined in electrical Safe Practices for Mechanics.
· Has a working knowledge of major processes in multiple cost centers.
· Communicates immediately to manager, supervisor or group leader any personnel or job coordination problems, parts or tool shortages. Reports all accidents, safety hazards, company policy violations and any other information that in their judgement requires attention.
· Initiate line/equipment tooling requirements in support of new products.
· Participates in project management including line layout derivation/review, installation and start-up.
· Must be able to interface effectively with outside vendors to place supply or part orders.
· Has an advanced understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems in the plant.
· Install, checks, adjusts, all troubleshooting and machinery repairs, conveyors and miscellaneous equipment as required for plant operations as directed by supervisor or designee.
· Must be able to develop skills to meet required change over standards as determined by OEE studies.
· Responsible for the complete set-up of all filling and assembly equipment.
· Must be able to run filling equipment in a safe, efficient manner and assist in quality production per the RPPS.
· Responsible for MU (material usage) to keep scrap levels at or below allowable standards.
· Ability to change and adjust process equipment; filling heads, capper torque check weigher, labelers, pumps and additional ancillary equipment.
· Load components into hoppers or bins during initial start up and assist line service if required to keep filling lines running.
· Cleaning and sanitization of tooling and equipment per SPI and maintain logbook.
· Must be able to respond to job assignments plantwide.
· Inspects and makes repairs as needed to maintain preventive maintenance programs.
· Maintains required records such as major maintenance, PM, IQOQPQ.
· Makes suggestions to management on better, more efficient and less costly methods to complete jobs.
· Monitors and operates equipment in accordance with established procedure.
· Keeps assigned work areas safe, clean and orderly.
· Completes job assignments by supervisor or designee in a prompt and timely manner.
· Complies with company policy regarding GMP, good housekeeping, and all safety regulations.
· Performs other related duties as may be assigned but not limited to the above.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
· Ability to read and work from detailed blueprints and schematics as required.
· Good working knowledge of plant equipment and systems.
· Must be able to learn basic applicable computer skills
· Must achieve a minimum score of 46.64 on the Standard Timing Model Test.
· Ability to train other Tech Levels as well as other Tech Level A employees.
· Ability to operate power shop tools in addition to common hand tools safely and effectively.
· Must be able to provide hand tools as required.
· Must be able to routinely lift and carry up to 50 pounds and manipulate bulk drums weighing up to 400 pounds.
· Able to push and pull objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
· Able to stand and/or walk 90% (sitting 10%) of an 8-hr day which includes climbing a ladder or steps.
· Must meet the vision and hearing requirements.

Minimum Education: High School Graduate or GED
Minimum Experience: 3 -5 years experience or equivalent

Machine Technician

We have an immediate opening with a local automotive parts manufacturer that is looking for  machine technicians for full-time positions to setup, maintain and troubleshoot production line machinery. Full time, long term, temporary- to- hire.

You will be responsible for keeping CNC machines operating within specifications, changing out tools, handling alarm resets, keying in machine codes and directions, and using precise measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers and bore gauges, working in this fast paced position. Customer Service Representative – Wake Forest

AVANT is recruiting for an experienced Customer Service Representative to work with a growing company in Wake Forest, NC.  The position is responsible for servicing and retaining new and existing benefits insurance accounts and referring potential business to other departments and affiliates. The selected candidate will support producer(s) in managing renewals and new sales by preparing quotes and proposals, and serve as the primary point of contact for all client inquiries.
Essential Functions:

  • Respond to customer and insurance company inquiries in a timely manner via telephone and email and record communications using Applied software.

  • Quote and re-market benefits insurance policies using internet based systems.
  • Prepare accurate, organized quotes and proposals for renewals and prospective business.

  • Ensure that insurance coverage is underwritten to at least agency minimum standards and consistent with the standard operating procedures for all new policies.
  • Correspond with clients and insurance carriers to obtain information and/or inform them of account status or changes.
  • Analyze information from clients, original insurance applications, and other company documents to determine if changes are needed and effects of changes.
  • Accurately process and record new insurance policies and changes according to agency procedures.
  • Accurately modify, update, and process existing policies and claims to reflect any change in beneficiary, amount of coverage, or type of insurance.
  • Organize and maintain detailed records for each client using Applied software.
  • Review and verify data, such demographics, coverage, and premiums on insurance applications and policies.
  • Additional Responsibilities:

3rd shift, Warehouse Production Lead

Oxford, NC based company looking to hire an immediate 3rd shift Production lead for automotive manufacturing company.

Individual will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing and training warehouse associates on CNC process and machine operation
  • Tracking production and efficiency of several lines
  • Creating reports and providing up-to-date warehouse stats to administration using MS Excel

I.T. Field Technician – Filled

AVANT is recruiting for an I.T. Field Technician for a large locally based business with locations in NC, VA and FL.  This is a fast-paced, rewarding position, with great pay, benefits and bonus potential.

The IT Field Technician is responsible for maintaining and fixing all technologies within a restaurant environment. This position requires general knowledge of phones, computers and networking as well as excellent communication skills, strong time management, and self-motivation.
