Machine Mechanic

AVANT is recruiting for several full-time openings with a manufacturer in Oxford, NC. Excellent pay and benefits available! Positions open on all 3 shifts.

Basic Function:
Assembles, operates, adjusts, troubleshoots, services and maintains all filling and assembly equipment in the company facilities with little or no direction from immediate Manager, Supervisor, or Group Leader.

Major Duties:
· Assists in coaching and training of mechanics and process facilitators.
· Plans, initiates and completes job assignments in a prompt and timely manner.
· Ability to operate all shop equipment except the CNC.
· Trained and certified to make adjustments/repairs in electrical panels as defined in electrical Safe Practices for Mechanics.
· Has a working knowledge of major processes in multiple cost centers.
· Communicates immediately to manager, supervisor or group leader any personnel or job coordination problems, parts or tool shortages. Reports all accidents, safety hazards, company policy violations and any other information that in their judgement requires attention.
· Initiate line/equipment tooling requirements in support of new products.
· Participates in project management including line layout derivation/review, installation and start-up.
· Must be able to interface effectively with outside vendors to place supply or part orders.
· Has an advanced understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems in the plant.
· Install, checks, adjusts, all troubleshooting and machinery repairs, conveyors and miscellaneous equipment as required for plant operations as directed by supervisor or designee.
· Must be able to develop skills to meet required change over standards as determined by OEE studies.
· Responsible for the complete set-up of all filling and assembly equipment.
· Must be able to run filling equipment in a safe, efficient manner and assist in quality production per the RPPS.
· Responsible for MU (material usage) to keep scrap levels at or below allowable standards.
· Ability to change and adjust process equipment; filling heads, capper torque check weigher, labelers, pumps and additional ancillary equipment.
· Load components into hoppers or bins during initial start up and assist line service if required to keep filling lines running.
· Cleaning and sanitization of tooling and equipment per SPI and maintain logbook.
· Must be able to respond to job assignments plantwide.
· Inspects and makes repairs as needed to maintain preventive maintenance programs.
· Maintains required records such as major maintenance, PM, IQOQPQ.
· Makes suggestions to management on better, more efficient and less costly methods to complete jobs.
· Monitors and operates equipment in accordance with established procedure.
· Keeps assigned work areas safe, clean and orderly.
· Completes job assignments by supervisor or designee in a prompt and timely manner.
· Complies with company policy regarding GMP, good housekeeping, and all safety regulations.
· Performs other related duties as may be assigned but not limited to the above.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
· Ability to read and work from detailed blueprints and schematics as required.
· Good working knowledge of plant equipment and systems.
· Must be able to learn basic applicable computer skills
· Must achieve a minimum score of 46.64 on the Standard Timing Model Test.
· Ability to train other Tech Levels as well as other Tech Level A employees.
· Ability to operate power shop tools in addition to common hand tools safely and effectively.
· Must be able to provide hand tools as required.
· Must be able to routinely lift and carry up to 50 pounds and manipulate bulk drums weighing up to 400 pounds.
· Able to push and pull objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
· Able to stand and/or walk 90% (sitting 10%) of an 8-hr day which includes climbing a ladder or steps.
· Must meet the vision and hearing requirements.

Minimum Education: High School Graduate or GED
Minimum Experience: 3 -5 years experience or equivalent

We have an immediate opening with a local automotive parts manufacturer that is looking for  machine technicians for full-time positions to setup, maintain and troubleshoot production line machinery. Full time, long term, temporary- to- hire.

You will be responsible for keeping CNC machines operating within specifications, changing out tools, handling alarm resets, keying in machine codes and directions, and using precise measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers and bore gauges, working in this fast paced position. Documenting production times and quality.

Multiple shifts available working for this great local company. Training is provided, but a minimum of 3 years prior machine shop or mechanical experience required.

Positions start at $13.00 per hour (dependent on experience), with overtime available.

3rd shift, Warehouse Production Lead

Oxford, NC based company looking to hire an immediate 3rd shift Production lead for automotive manufacturing company.

Individual will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing and training warehouse associates on CNC process and machine operation
  • Tracking production and efficiency of several lines
  • Creating reports and providing up-to-date warehouse stats to administration using MS Excel
  • Fill in for warehouse associates as needed as machine operators and/or technicians

Individual MUST have following qualifications:

  • Proficient in operating CNC machines with no less than 2 years experience
  • Proficient in machine operating with no less than 2 years experience
  • Minimum 2 years experience providing leadership to no less than 10 people
  • Able to lift 50 lbs continuously
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Capable and interested in working 3rd shift and late hours
  • Certified Forklift, preferred
  • Some training provided

Pay range starts at $15 and is based on experience.

Web press “Mark Andy” Operator – Filled

Local printing company looking for experienced Mark Andy operator for immediate full time, long term position. Individual will be receiving assignments and working independently to complete the job.

Job description includes:
Review production and assignment to ensure quality, conformity, and uniform instructions for the team.
Set up press to specifications
Run proofs and samples to look for defects and imperfections
Perform continual in-process quality checks
Produce product to close tolerance specifications
Train new employees on machine process
Mix Flexo inks as needed

Flexo Press Apprentice – Filled

AVANT is recruiting for a Flexo Press Apprentice for a local Durham printing company.

The ideal candidate will have an attention to detail and the ability to learn how to work with the presses.  You will be responsible for cutting, trimming and mounting plates for Flexo presses, operating and maintaining the plate mounting equipment, and assisting the press operator.

The position is 1st shift, working from 7am – 3:30pm.  Salary starts at $12.00/hour.

Machine Operator – 1st/2nd Shift

Immediate openings at a local automotive parts manufacturer  that needs machine operators for 1st and 2nd shift positions.  Selected candidates will be loading parts into machine for processing, removing finished parts from machines for inspection, and passing completed parts to the next station. 

*Must be able to work in a fast paced environment

*Must be able to walk/stand for the entire shift

*Will monitor machine alarms and notifiy Supervisor of any issues

Press Brake Operator

An RTP metal fabrication company, specializing in precision machined parts, is looking for a confident qualified brake press operator for a temp-to-hire position.

Candidate qualifications include but are not limited to:
*Experience setting up/tooling an Amada press brake
*Minimum two years operating a press brake
*Ability to independently create multiple precise bends on variety of metal widths
*Perform final quality inspection on each part
*Expertly able to read blue prints
*Expertly able touse precise measuring equipment
*High school diploma, Associates Degree or higher preferred
