Machine Mechanic

AVANT is recruiting for several full-time openings with a manufacturer in Oxford, NC. Excellent pay and benefits available! Positions open on all 3 shifts.

Basic Function:
Assembles, operates, adjusts, troubleshoots, services and maintains all filling and assembly equipment in the company facilities with little or no direction from immediate Manager, Supervisor, or Group Leader.

Major Duties:
· Assists in coaching and training of mechanics and process facilitators.
· Plans, initiates and completes job assignments in a prompt and timely manner.
· Ability to operate all shop equipment except the CNC.
· Trained and certified to make adjustments/repairs in electrical panels as defined in electrical Safe Practices for Mechanics.
· Has a working knowledge of major processes in multiple cost centers.
· Communicates immediately to manager, supervisor or group leader any personnel or job coordination problems, parts or tool shortages. Reports all accidents, safety hazards, company policy violations and any other information that in their judgement requires attention.
· Initiate line/equipment tooling requirements in support of new products.
· Participates in project management including line layout derivation/review, installation and start-up.
· Must be able to interface effectively with outside vendors to place supply or part orders.
· Has an advanced understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems in the plant.
· Install, checks, adjusts, all troubleshooting and machinery repairs, conveyors and miscellaneous equipment as required for plant operations as directed by supervisor or designee.
· Must be able to develop skills to meet required change over standards as determined by OEE studies.
· Responsible for the complete set-up of all filling and assembly equipment.
· Must be able to run filling equipment in a safe, efficient manner and assist in quality production per the RPPS.
· Responsible for MU (material usage) to keep scrap levels at or below allowable standards.
· Ability to change and adjust process equipment; filling heads, capper torque check weigher, labelers, pumps and additional ancillary equipment.
· Load components into hoppers or bins during initial start up and assist line service if required to keep filling lines running.
· Cleaning and sanitization of tooling and equipment per SPI and maintain logbook.
· Must be able to respond to job assignments plantwide.
· Inspects and makes repairs as needed to maintain preventive maintenance programs.
· Maintains required records such as major maintenance, PM, IQOQPQ.
· Makes suggestions to management on better, more efficient and less costly methods to complete jobs.
· Monitors and operates equipment in accordance with established procedure.
· Keeps assigned work areas safe, clean and orderly.
· Completes job assignments by supervisor or designee in a prompt and timely manner.
· Complies with company policy regarding GMP, good housekeeping, and all safety regulations.
· Performs other related duties as may be assigned but not limited to the above.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
· Ability to read and work from detailed blueprints and schematics as required.
· Good working knowledge of plant equipment and systems.
· Must be able to learn basic applicable computer skills
· Must achieve a minimum score of 46.64 on the Standard Timing Model Test.
· Ability to train other Tech Levels as well as other Tech Level A employees.
· Ability to operate power shop tools in addition to common hand tools safely and effectively.
· Must be able to provide hand tools as required.
· Must be able to routinely lift and carry up to 50 pounds and manipulate bulk drums weighing up to 400 pounds.
· Able to push and pull objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
· Able to stand and/or walk 90% (sitting 10%) of an 8-hr day which includes climbing a ladder or steps.
· Must meet the vision and hearing requirements.

Minimum Education: High School Graduate or GED
Minimum Experience: 3 -5 years experience or equivalent

Irrigation Specialist

  • Loading and unloading materials necessary for each work site, requiring some heavy lifting.
  • Speak professionally with customers ensuring that their expectations have been met

Job Qualifications include:

  • Expert knowledge regarding irrigation system repair and installation
  • Expert knowledge of local grasses and plants
  • Proficient with cement and cement installations
  • Expert with landscaping tools such as; zero turn mowers, blowers, weed eaters, hedge trimmers, hand tools, etc
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years experience working with a professional landscaping company
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Spanish language highly preferred

You will be responsible for keeping CNC machines operating within specifications, changing out tools, handling alarm resets, keying in machine codes and directions, and using precise measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers and bore gauges, working in this fast paced position. Documenting production times and quality.

Multiple shifts available working for this great local company. Training is provided, but a minimum of 3 years prior machine shop or mechanical experience required.

I.T. Field Technician – Filled

AVANT is recruiting for an I.T. Field Technician for a large locally based business with locations in NC, VA and FL.  This is a fast-paced, rewarding position, with great pay, benefits and bonus potential.

The IT Field Technician is responsible for maintaining and fixing all technologies within a restaurant environment. This position requires general knowledge of phones, computers and networking as well as excellent communication skills, strong time management, and self-motivation.

Job Responsibilities

Maintain PCs, Point of Sales Systems and networks at remote locations

Troubleshoot and solve IT issues quickly and calmly via phone, remote access, or on site

Maintain CCTV systems

Work an on-call rotation

The position works Monday through Friday 8am -to 5pm, with an on-call rotation.  There is some travel involved with the job.

PC Service Technician – Filled

AVANT is recruiting for a Computer Technician to provide in-person and telephone computer support to clients throughout the triangle.  The candidate must be able to identify issues and determine a course of action to repair existing problems and prevent future issues from arising.  Candidates will primarily be supporting Windows PC’s, Microsoft software programs, and various other software packages and operating systems.  Familiarity with hardware and networking is a definite plus. You must have a clean criminal background, be well spoken and customer service oriented.  This position is currently scheduled for 25-30 hours per week and will move to fulltime as needs demand.  Pay for the position will be based on experience and will range from $25.00 to $40.00 per hour.

Pest Control Technician – Filled

A local family owned Pest Control Company is looking for an energetic and self motivated person to join their team as a pest control and termite specialist. The ideal candidate will be able to occasionally lift in excess of 50 lbs, bend, reach, and learn the role of a pest control and termite inspection. If not an already licensed exterminator, the company is willing to pay for the training for the right candidate. If you currently possess an exterminator license and have experience, pay starting can be expected at $12 an hour with room for growth. While people who aren’t currently licensed are able to apply for the position, pay will start at $10 an hour while the company pays to have you certified!
